Augusta, Here We Come!

Welcome to the new Rockford Golfs! blog. Each week, this is where you can find my inner most thoughts on the world of golf. From Tiger's tales to news from the local golf scene, you can find it all right here. And I want to hear from you, Rockford's avid golfers. This blog is as much yours as it is mine.
I've never had a bucket list, but if I did, watching the Masters live from Augusta would top my list. From the beautiful scenery to the tournament's rich history, the Masters is the ultimate golf experience. As Brad Benjamin says, "it's a little piece of Heaven." I can't wait to get there later this week to watch Benjamin makes his Masters debut.
Brad finds out Tuesday which past Masters champion he will be paired with. There's a chance he could play with Tiger; I hope not. Brad doesn't need the distraction of having thousands of overzealous golf fans following Tiger's every move. Brad would be better served playing with a lesser known golfer like Trevor Immelman or another lefty, Mike Weir.
Speaking of Tiger, Woods held a 34-minute news conference at Augusta on Monday afternoon in front of the assembled media. He answered most of the questions about his personal life, danced around a few more, and talked very little about his golf game.
How will Tiger do in his first tournament back? Who knows. He's as likely to win the darn thing as he is to miss the cut. Knowing how competitive he is, it wouldn't surprise me if Tiger is wearing another green jacket come Sunday afternoon.
There will be so many people making the trek to the Masters this week from Rockford, that it will feel more like Aldeen than Augusta out there. Besides watching Brad play, I'm most looking forward to meeting some of the best golf writers in the world, as we rub elbows in the press tent.
I will be calling in live updates all week on 1330 WNTA and updating my blog daily. And make sure to listen to Rockford Golfs! on Saturday morning with more coverage from the Masters.
Talk to you from Augusta.
Paul
