Amcore Bank is among several Northern Illinois financial institutions who may be targeted for a takeover. Crain's Chicago Business and The Chicago Tribune report the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is looking for bidders to acquire Amcore's deposits and assets. Amcore Bnak officials declined comment on these latest reports. Amcore was hit hard by delinquent loans connected to the collapse of the real estate market. Federal regulators ordered Amcore to raise capital last year. Two seperate restructuring plans submitted by Amcore in recent months were rejected by federal regulators.
